Wolfs Company’s participation in conference ‘Natural Capital: Conservation and beyond’ in Santiago de Chile

Our Presence

On May 28th, 2018, The UK’s Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) and the Conservation Law Center co-hosted the conference ‘Natural Capital: Conservation and beyond’, in Chile in order to promote the concepts and methodologies of Natural Capital for the development of not only sustainable conservation but also of sustainable economies in general.

Sustainable economies require permanent development of knowledge and cooperative practices between and among people from different backgrounds and disciplines. The aim of the conference was therefore to introduce the Natural Capital conceptual framework as a theoretical and practical tool. During this event, experts from different fields – from the U.K., Europe and Chile- shared their knowledge of the most recent models, concepts and practices relating to Natural Capital.

The best sustainable management practices require permanent development of knowledge.

The conference provided themed sessions that delved into different aspects of Natural Capital. Amílcar Guzmán, from Wolfs Company, was presenter and panelist during the session on the economic dimension of Natural Capital. From this perspective, he discussed international cases in which the economic value of ecosystems currently informs sustainable financing strategies for nature conservation, emerging markets, national wealth accounting and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
